Works by Bruce Freedman and the Mythical Man
May 4 - 28, 2022
Reception on Saturday
May 7 from 4-6pm

Let us introduce you to Bruce Freedman and the Mythical Man.

Bruce Freedman is a 71 year old musician who has played the saxophone, composed
music, and has been a part of Vancouvers jazz and improvisation community for over
40 years.

"I have come to the world of visual art quite late in life. I do collage. My palette is very
simple, I work with scissors, glue stick, and for some things, a photo copier. My source material comes mainly from old magazines and discarded books often found in the thrift store. Like I said, simple!"

Originally from Winnipeg, MB, the Mythical Man (aka Myth) moved to Vancouver in
1991, after having received his Bachelors Degree in Music from Brandon University.
Myth has recorded with musica intima, TheLegion of Flying Monkeys, Orkestar
Slivovica, Matthew Good, and The Dreadnaughts.

Although enjoying drawing since a young age, partly encouraged by his father, Myth
didn’t pursue visual arts until approximately 2013, through the Kettle Friendship
Society’s Arts Drop-in program, run by local artist Bill Pope. Since then, his art and
reputation have slowly spread far and wide; his art has been received by people both
locally, throughout Canada, and even as far away as Serbia.
